About the artist

Inês Almeida, a Portuguese contemporary jewellery designer.

My journey began at the António Arroio Art School in Lisbon, where I embarked on my path in jewellery making through the Jewellery and Metal Arts course. I later sought out new creative languages at the prestigious Massana Centre d'Art i Disseny in Barcelona—a city where I lived for seven years. There, I completed a course in Applied Arts specializing in Jewellery, followed by a Degree in Art and Design (Jewellery).

Alongside my studies, I developed social and community intervention projects focused on the Roma community—a work born from observation and a personal and professional desire to use technical and artistic tools to make a meaningful impact in marginalized areas.

In 2003, I returned to Portugal, and a year later I rejoined the António Arroio School, this time as a teacher of Jewellery Design, Technologies, and later, Engraving.

In my artistic practice, I create unique contemporary jewellery pieces using traditional goldsmithing and engraving techniques, often incorporating found objects and natural elements. Through my work, I construct and imagine narratives that seek out new landscapes to explore.
